Bombers re-sign QB Pierce

02/02/2012 - Winnipeg, MB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed veteran quarterback Buck Pierce.

Per team policy, terms were not disclosed.

"We are thrilled that we were able to get a deal done with Buck," said Blue Bombers general manager Joe Mack in a statement. "His experience and leadership is invaluable in our locker room and we look forward to having him return in 2012 and help our team compete for a Grey Cup championship."

A seven-year CFL veteran, Pierce had a standout season in 2011. He recorded career highs with 261 completions, 3,348 passing yards and 324 rushing yards as he led the Blue Bombers to an East Division championship.

Pierce, who just completed his second year in Winnipeg, would have been eligible for free agency on February 16. He started his CFL career in 2005 with British Columbia and has thrown for 13,162 yards with 68 touchdowns.

The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.

Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East. Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds

Will he or won't he?  Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.

Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.

"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."

Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.

Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.

But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.
